Our story

Why are we called OverSushi?

Ours starts with Dan Carabias, 12 years ago. Back then, in his early days of chasing entrepreneurship, Dan met every week with a brilliant developer at a sushi joint near work. They’d ideate on app after app, business after business. A few ideas even saw the light of day, but nothing truly stuck. One day, his partner asked, “So, what are we?” Dan replied, “We are kind of like a holdings company of IP.” The partner grinned. “Then what should we be called?” And then it happened. Like a lightning bolt to the brain, the name hit Dan: OverSushi. It was fun. Unexpected. And for reasons he still can’t explain, it captured the essence of creativity for him. He went home, bought the domain, and tucked it away for “someday.”

Fast forward 11 years. Early summer. The phone rings. It’s Mike LaVigne. “Dano, it’s time for us to do it again, and Arnold is in.” Dan didn’t need convincing. He called Hansen, looped him in, and the crew was set. When we finally sat down together, the first question we asked was, “What should we be called?” Dan remembered a mentor’s advice: “Save your screws. You never know when you’ll need them.” He dusted off the name. We all loved it. And we gave it a new meaning.

This story is proof you never know what you’ll need or when you’ll need it. Born years ago in a flash of creativity, OS today stands for possibility. For the courage to dream. For the belief that ideas, given the right moment, can change everything.
